With respect to the Moi program, when a Customer allows the use of his or her membership number by someone else, such person may access and update the information related to the Customer account and link the card to a Metro digital account or an account of Metro’s partners. Metro uses the Personal Information that the Customer (or a person whom the Customer authorizes to use his or her membership number) registers in the digital account(s) of Metro and its partners for the purposes and in accordance with the terms of the Policy.
Privacy notice - Loyalty programs
GENERAL INFORMATION
This Loyalty Programs Privacy Notice ("Notice") complements and forms an integral part of the Privacy Policy of Metro ("Policy"). In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between this Notice and the Policy, the Policy shall prevail. Terms used in this Notice have the same meaning as in the Policy unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
In this Notice, Metro provides its Customers with details on how their Personal Information is collected, used and disclosed when they subscribe to a loyalty or rewards program offered by Metro or one of its partners, including the Moi program available in participating stores in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick.
The aim of the Moi program is to reward Customers and help Metro better meet their needs.
The Moi program is available at participating banners, stores, establishments and websites of Metro (the "Participating Banners") and participating partners’ establishments and websites. Metro may remove or add Participating Banners and participating partners. For a complete list of Participating Banners and participating partners, please visit https://programmemoi.ca.
The Moi program is governed by its own terms and conditions, which Customers agree to when they register for the program. The terms and conditions of the Moi program apply in addition to Privacy Policy of Metro, including this Notice.
COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA
Metro collects certain Personal Information from loyalty program members when they subscribe to the program, use their membership card, purchase products in store, take advantage of offers or rewards offered by Metro and communicate with Metro.
This Personal Information may include, but is not limited to, first and last name, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number, program membership number and year of birth.
Metro collects the year of birth of Customers in order to determine the type of personalized offers Metro can send to Customers while respecting the criteria established by applicable laws.
PURPOSES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION
The Personal Information collected by Metro, in the course of activities related to a loyalty program, including registration for the program and use of the membership card by the Customer in our stores and digital platforms, is used for the following purposes:
- enable Customers to register and use the loyalty program;
- communicate with Customers in connection with services, programs and promotional contests offered by Metro to which Customers have subscribed or registered;
- process Customer requests and verify their identity;
- design, improve or market services and products;
- improve the offer in-store and on the Sites (which may include marketing research and surveys);
- offer promotions, special offers and personalized advertising tailored to Customers' shopping habits;
- conduct promotional activities and, when available, register members for contests offered as part of loyalty programs;
- send Customers advertisements, promotions and offers by mail or by any other means as permitted by law.
PERSONAL INFORMATION SHARING
Customer Personal Information provided to one of our Participating Banners as part of a loyalty program is used by Metro and, where necessary, may be disclosed to Third Parties, certain service providers and partners without the Customer's knowledge or consent, where permitted by law.
For example, Metro may disclose and communicate, when necessary, Personal Information about a member of a loyalty program to:
- certain service providers (IT services, cloud computing solutions or platforms, marketing, data hosting, data processing, analysis and research, printing, professional consulting);
- certain partners of our programs to which Customers have subscribed.
